Taylor Swift releases celebrity-studded video for ‘You Need To Calm Down’

Directed by Drew Kirsch and Swift herself, the video includes countless cameos

Taylor Swift’s new single, You Need To Calm Down, made its debut on June 13, on the american popstar’s YouTube channel and social media profiles. Swift also revealed that a video for the single would be released shortly and so it was: on June 17, after a premiere on Good Morning America, the singer-songwriter released the video for You Need To Calm Down, that she co-directed with Drew Kirsch.

Arriving on Pride month, the song is a catchy queer anthem celebrating love and and acceptance: in the lyrics, the popstar addresses homophobia and her critics.

Set in a fictional and colorful trailer park, the video starts with Swift waking up and soon throwing her flaming smartphone on her bed, probably criticizing our current addiction to technology and hateful comments on social media.

As she leaves her trailer-home in flames, we first find her laying in a pool, tanning and having fun with many famous friends. The video is indeed star-studded with celebrities including EllenDeGeneres, Adam Lambert, Ciara, RuPaul, Ryan Reynolds and Katy Perry.

You Need To Calm Down is the second single from Swift’s upcoming seventh studio album, Lover, that will be released on August 23, 2019.
