Here are the first films competing for the nominations
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlists in nine categories for the 93rd Oscars: Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music Original Score, Music Original Song, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Visual Effects.
The shortlist announcement arrived on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
The selected films are competing for the final lists of nominees and they will be voted by The Academy between March 5 and March 10, 2021. Official nominations for the 93rd Oscars will be announced on March 15, 2021.
The Academy Awards ceremony is usually held in February but, following the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been rescheduled to take place on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Dolby Theatre (Los Angeles). The 93rd Oscars will be televised live on ABC and in over 225 countries worldwide.
