Neon and Topic Studios released first photo of the actress on the set of the film ‘Spencer’
Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Café Society) has officially started shooting Spencer, the new film by Pablo Larraín that will see her star as Princess Diana. Written by Steven Knight (the creator of Peaky Blinders) the film focuses on the weekend the late royal decided to end her marriage to Prince Charles, just after the Christmas holidays she spent with the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Neon and Topic Studios have released the first image of Stewart in the role of Diana: the actress looks thoughtful and wears an elegant red and black outfit, completed by one of the princess’ signature hats.
This is maybe the most talked-about role for the Twilight actress and when Spencer was announced for the first time, at the 2020 virtual Cannes Market, Larraín was criticized by part of the critics for the choice.
Filming will take place in Germany and UK and the launch of the film has been anticipated to fall 2021, one year before the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
Other cast members have just been confirmed: actors Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) and Sean Harris (Mission: Impossibile – Fallout) will join Kristen Stewart in Spencer.
The film is produced by Juan de Dios Larraín for Fabula Films, Jonas Dornbach and Janine Jackowski for Komplizen Film and Paul Webster for Shoebox Films.
