The famous festival joins the list of postponed and canceled events due to the epidemic
The Coronavirus outbreak is impacting every industry and music is no exception. As the epidemic spreads quickly all over the world, artists and promoters had to change their plans for springtime events due to local restrictions on public gatherings.
Last week, Austin’s local government has canceled the 2020 edition of SXSW (South by Southwest), the biggest music-cinema-art event which takes place in Texas every year, since 1987.
Yesterday, some reports appeared on Billboard, Rolling Stone and The Hollywood Reporter stating that the organizers and promoter Goldenvoice were in talks to save Coachella Festival, another big event which was set to take place in Indio, California, on the weekends of April 10 and 17, 2020. Now, some booking agents for several festival’s acts told TMZ that the event will be postponed to the weekends of October 9 and 16, 2020. According to the publication, Goldenvoice is now informing reps for all the acts to make an official announcement once the process is completed.
Due to Coronavirus fears many artists had to reschedule or cancel their gigs: Justin Bieber moved many of his stadium tour dates to arenas, Pearl Jam postponed the first leg of their North American Tour, Madonna canceled her final Madame X shows (March 10-11) in Paris and country music festival Stagecoach was moved from April 24 to October 23.
