How british and american indie scene can heal you from post-summer melancholy
If your vacation is over and every step on your way to the office feels sad and heavy, you need to to adjust to the new season. Music can help a lot during this transition phase, especially if you add some indie touch to your playlists.
The hottest music right now is coming from british and american indie scene. I chose 4 bands that are worth your attention: Pale Waves, Sir Sly, Nothing But Thieves and HAIM. They’re talented and their artful and funny songs are the “vitamins” you need to beat summertime sadness. Get to know them.
Pale Waves
I love these guys from Manchester because they sound like the perfect mix between The Cure and The 1975. They released only two singles and There’s A Honey is the song you’ll get addicted to: it’s like going back to your teenage years, falling in love with the hottest guy in school and having no idea if he’s making a fool of you or he’s going to take you to the prom.
Sir Sly
Album to listen: Don’t Worry Honey (2017)
This fantastic indie band from L.A. is on my “Artist to watch” list. High is one of my favorite tracks: it sounds like an estranged, bittersweet nursery rhyme. You’ll find yourself singing this song in your car: the chorus is pure fun.
Nothing But Thieves
Album to listen: Nothing But Thieves (2015)
In the last two years Nothing But Thieves supported bands such as Twenty One Pilots and Muse: you’ll notice influences from Matt Bellamy’s band for sure, but you can getsome elements from Radiohead and Placebo too. Ban All The Music is maybe one of their most representative singles: high impact and energetic.
HAIM
Album to listen: Something to Tell You (2017)
If you know these girls only as “Taylor Swift’s friends” you’re missing the point: HAIM is one of the best bands around. These three sisters from the San Fernando Valley have just released their new single, Little of Your Love: it’s the daily dose of romance and fun you need to embrace the new season with no traumas.
