Todd Phillips’ film tops list with 11 nominations, ‘The Irishman’, ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ and ‘1917’ follow with 10 nominations apiece
Joker leads the nominees of the 92nd Oscars, that were announced on Monday, January 13, 2020. Todd Phillips’ film received 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Actor in a Leading Role for Joaquin Phoenix’s acclaimed performance. The list of competitors in this category also includes Antonio Banderas, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce.
Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Sam Mendes’ 1917 earned 10 nominations apiece. These three films are also competing in the Best Picture category alongside Joker, Ford v Ferrari by James Mangold, Jojo Rabbit by Taika Waititi, Little Women by Greta Gerwig, Marriage Story by Noah Baumbach and Parasite by Bong Joon Ho.
Cynthia Erivo, Scarlett Johansson, Saoirse Ronan, Charlize Theron and Renée Zellweger are the nominees for Actress in a Leading Role.
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on February 9 2020. Following the success of the 91st ceremony, this will be the second host-free edition.
