Part two of your summer compilation
In my last post, I listed my all time favourite songs for the summer season, but I think that many recent tracks deserve a place in this compilation. The second part of this 2017 Summer Playlist is called New Hits and it features the latest chart topping singles plus some recent music gems that, maybe, you haven’t heard about.
This time my picks are more dance/pop oriented with some hints of folk and rock.
Hoping you’ll find something to suit your mood, here are 7 more hits to refresh your ears.
Paramore – Hard Times
If you’re really going through the Hard Times Paramore are singing about, this is the kind of song you’d wish to hear on the radio while you’re driving to the beach: vintage, colorful and catchy.
Ofenbach – Be Mine
It’s going to be one of the most played songs this summer: french DJ duo Ofenbach has recently released Be Mine, a dance pop gem with unusual folk elements. The verse “And if you wanna fight, let’s start a show ‘cause I want you to be mine” is irresistible.
Marco Mengoni – Onde (Sondr Remix)
Marco Mengoni won the 2009 edition of X Factor Italy and, since then, his fame has grown all around Europe. Onde (the italian word for “waves”) is his latest single: the chorus is like a recap of 90s best dance music with echoes of KWS version of Please Don’t Go, the famous hit by KC and The Sunshine Band. The inspiration is enough to add it to your summer playlist.
Miley Cyrus – Malibu
Is Miley Cyrus moving away from her recent electro pop seductions to go back to her country roots? We still don’t know, but her recent single Malibu is a great blend of both of her music souls: Miley tells a love story through a guitar-based composition with pop elements, delivering a delicate and intense performance. The beach-themed lyrics are perfect for the season.
Shawn Mendes – There’s Nothing Holding Me Back
Like it or not, every single Shawn Mendes has released since his debut is surrounded by a “pop aura” we haven’t heard in a while. There’s Nothing Holding Me Back is no exception: simple but effective lyrics, great rhythm and melody.
Wingtip ft. Sophie Strauss – Rewind
Another song, another summer romance: DJ Wingtip and vocalist Sophie Strauss prepare you for September, when that summer romance you had a while ago, will come back to your mind.
Lana Del Rey – Love
As usual, Lana Del Rey nails our annual dose of summer melancholy with a magnificent, heart breaking ballad: Love is the perfect vintage song to say goodbye to this summer.
