Nancy Cadogan – Mind Zero

British based artist presents her first solo exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London

Following the success of her recent solo show in London, called Still Reading, figurative painter Nancy Cadogan returns with Mind Zero, her first solo exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery which will take place in London, from September 1 to September 22, 2019.

Born in 1979, in Cincinnati, the British based artist has lived and worked in Morocco, Ghana, United States and Italy.

Mind Zero presents new works that push the viewer to explore the space we inhabit by engaging the mind as it moves through places, objects and memories. Putting the emphasis on color and movement, Cadogan achieves optical effects through the balance of shades instead of accentuating perspective and shadow.

Mind Zero celebrates the beauty of the everyday, recreating sensory scenes that investigate the way ideas are connected by objects, how thoughts spill into each other, making conscious and unconscious, reality and imagination simultaneously present.

«This is home, this is where I paint, and I am ready to share that now. We gain so much pleasure from the environments we create, the gardens we sow, the things we collect» said Cadogan in a press release. «It is often in the small details of domesticity, or in the order of our work and materials, that we find the most joy. In a way they are about how I respond emotionally to the place I live, how my mind collects images, how I analyze or ruminate on my response, then turn to painting for resolution.»
