The holiday edition of the famous Italian jazz festival returns in Orvieto from December 28, 2019, to January 1, 2020

Umbria Jazz Winter – the most famous Italian jazz festival – returns in Orvieto for its holiday edition from December 28, 2019, to January 1, 2020: 5 days of music, 90 events, 7 venues, 30 bands and over 150 musicians will participate in the festival. The 27th edition was presented yesterday at Villa Mercadante in Rome (Italy), by the Artistic Director Carlo Pagnotta and the Mayor of Orvieto, Roberta Tardani.

Following the tradition, the festival is dedicated both to music experts and curious people: Umbria Jazz Winter mixes different music genres, art and culture, a blend that will satisfy many different audiences.

The 27th edition will host the some of the finest Italian musicians as well as great representatives of the international jazz scene.

This year the festival will feature some concerts dedicated to the Beatles, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album Abbey Road: musicians John Scofield, Jay Anderson, Lewis Nash featuring Umbria Jazz Orchestra and Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, arranged and conducted by Gil Goldstein, will perform jazz versions of songs from the Fab 4. After the debut, in the spring edition of the festival in Terni, this concert-project has been developed and perfected to become The Magic and the Mystery of the Beatles.

Umbria Jazz Winter #27 will also celebrate Italian singer Mina, with musicians Danilo Rea, Massimo Moriconi and Alfredo Golino transforming some her famous hits in jazz tunes.

As usual, the festival’s guest list includes many Italian and international artists such as Paolo Fresu, The Isaiah J. Thompson Trio, Sullivan Fortner and The New Orleans Mystics.
